Filming the Dark Knight means fussing with a whole lot of lights.

Nearly 200 spectators, many with cameras, learned that in Oakland Saturday as they stood behind a barricade in rows five deep, hoping to hear an explosion or see fireworks.

"The Dark Knight Rises," the third installment of the Batman series starring Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway, is shooting scenes here for four weeks. The crew returns to Oakland today and Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

From their vantage point outside St. Paul Cathedral Rectory on North Dithridge Street, movie fans could see heavy equipment moving large light panels into position. The Tumbler, a version of the Batmobile with a camouflage paint job, was parked at Dithridge and Fifth Avenue.

Following on from yesterday’s news of  Tom Hardy in full Bane gear shooting scenes on the streets of Pittsburgh, more spy photo’s from the shoot have emerged today, thanks to the Daily Mail- only these ones are far more action oriented.

Christian Bale appeared on location today in his Batman outfit for an action packed fight scene with the back breaking villain. The fight scene seems to taking place outside of the prison that Hardy was filmed in front of yesterday.  With all the extras dressed as inmates and cops on set getting a piece of the action too, these photos seem to corroborate the online rumours of Bane staging a prison break. The character did the same thing in the Knightfall comic series in an effort to tire out Batman before breaking his back.
